GAMLA Group was founded in 1981 when it commenced business as a trading company importing and supplying raw materials and machinery to the cement, mining and steel industries in Nigeria. It is also involved in the sale of commercial explosives to the mining and construction industries.

GAMLA’s business concerns grew rapidly in the early 1980’s and within a decade, birthed several companies to cater for the niche markets it had penetrated or developed across several countries, particularly Nigeria. Today, GAMLA’s business interests span manufacturing concerns to construction, real estate, oil & gas services, oilspill monitoring and more. The companies under the group include Hexagon Petroservices, Sandhogg Dredging, Gamla Pyrotechnic, Megacorp, Manex Limited, and Aerospace Geomatics.

GAMLA’s success has consistently been attributed to the ability to identify niche markets, and the courage to confront these opportunities even in tough business climes. Behind this drive and the maverick model of doing business is the highly entrepreneurial young American-trained Chemical Engineer, Mr. Nelson Diche Ononye, who is also the Chairman and Chief Executive.
